Local butcher's message to customers

I just have to share about a sign I noticed recently at a butcher's shop in one of our major shopping centres which is competing against the two big supermarkets in the centre, Coles and Woolworths.  I always try to support small businesses and was quite taken by the truthfulness of the sign.

It's probably a bit hard to read but this is what it says:

Remember.................When you buy from a family owned business

you are not helping a CEO purchase their third holiday home.

You are helping a little girl get dancing lessons, a little boy get

his football jersey, a mum or dad put food on the table, a family

pay a mortgage or pay a college student's fees.

Our customers are our shareholders and they are the ones we

strive to make happy.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING A SMALL BUSINESS

Need I say more? Isn't that a great sign? '

  4. Yes, it is a great sign and a great business. They are always friendly and helpful and their meat is top class + they give a Senior's Discount. LOL!

  5. That is so clever. I'd like to print a copy of that and show it to some of our local business who have Coles, Safeway and Aldi all within spitting distance. I always buy meat and vegies at the butcher and greengrocer respectively. We also have a great chicken shop, and I buy chicken from them too, not the supermarkets.

  6. That is a good idea, Gina. I just love that sign and actually wish it was a bit bigger as it is easy to miss it in the shopping centre unless you specifically walk over to the shop. I guess the big supermarkets would get their respective noses out of joint if the sign was too obvious though and was on a billboard in front of the shop.

I must tell the butcher that I put the sign on my blog and what a reception it got. I did ask permission to take a photo from the shop assistant but I don't think she knew what a blog was. LOL!

  7. Buying from a local butcher usually means you are also supporting local grazing farmers as well. Ones that may only raise a few dozen beasts a year, so it means you are supporting other locals who are doing their best to keep their customers happy as their family depends on it.

  8. That's right, Robyn. There is a ripple effect, isn't there? We just don't realise it sometimes.
