Prune, Goji Berry and Macadamia Nut Balls

One of the nice things about getting to know other bloggers online is that most of them are very generous and happy to share their ideas, recipes etc. Tanya, who has a fairly new blog, Flood-proof Mum, recently shared her recipe for Five Minute Prune and Goji Balls which is her variation of the Raw Cacao and Prune Balls which she found here. My version of the original recipe is for Prune, Goji Berry and Macadamia Nut Balls.

These balls are fairly healthy so if you would like to have a go at making them here are the ingredients you will need:

Prune, Goji Berry and Macadamia Nut Balls

1 cup pitted prunes, roughly chopped
1 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup or so of macadamia nuts (I just threw some in so not sure about the exact amount)
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
1/4 cup goji berries
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Grind the almonds and macadamia nuts in a food processor till they are to your liking. I then put these in a another bowl and then processed the prunes and goji berries instead of just chopping the prunes. Add the prunes and goji berries to the nuts and then add the cacao powder and cinnamon and mix well.

Take a teaspoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. This is a messy process so have a bowl of water handy to wet your hands. When finished place the balls in the fridge until they are firm.
These balls are quick and easy to make and I am sure they will become a favourite in your house. I didn't have my glasses on (again) when I bought the Goji Berries so I couldn't read the small print where it says country of origin. Unfortunately they were from China. I am usually careful about where I buy supermarket food from so will just have to remember to put those glasses on next time I am in there!

Have a look around Tanya's blog as it would be particularly interesting to interstate and overseas readers who may like to see the flooding that the heavy rain of the past couple of summers has caused in the area around Gympie here in Queensland. Tanya's home has been flooded a number of times and the family has had to escape the flooding by boat before being airlifted out and onto dry ground. Hopefully there won't be a repeat of the heavy rain this coming summer.

Have a great week everyone and always remember this:

That's my excuse anyway. :-)

  4. Hi Nanna Chel, bet they taste great with Macadamias. My husband calls Macadamias Queensland Nuts, a name for them I wasn't aware of until recently. Thanks for mentioning my blog!
    Cheers, Tanya

  5. Yum! I make variations with almonds, dates, coconut, cacao, vanilla; I call them bliss balls. I'll def try your recipe next time. Nut balls really hit the sweet spot but are not fattening.
