The beauty of dahlias

As I have mentioned before, my husband is quite keen on growing different varieties of dahlias. As he has quite a few in the front garden as well as 'down the back' in his territory, we don't water them very often as we don't want an excess water bill so they mainly rely on rain to survive. However, last week while I was visiting my grandchildren, we had over 7 inches of rain here so the dahlias are starting to look beautiful once again and I thought I would share some photos with you which might brighten up my readers from the Northern Hemisphere who are still looking forward to some warm weather after a long and harsh winter.

  2. Yes Joolz, they make a nice show in the front garden and down the driveway. Some will be pulled out and as the experimenting goes on.

    1. Sue, he often swaps with other keen gardeners so we do get an assortment of flowers in our garden.

  8. They are beautiful. I saw these on the weekend after it had fined up enough to take Mister Simba for a walk. The colours are brilliant in passing live. And we did have a fair down pour of rain! Glad your hubby got the benefit for his flowers.

    1. Welcome Kathy. Yes my granddaughter and I had lots of fun together. It is so easy to keep a three year old busy. Water play is always a hit especially when the temp is over 35 degrees!

    1. I just stick to the veggies, Tanya. My husband is the one who grows flowers. He just walks past people's places and if he sees a plant he likes he asks for a cutting. Most gardeners are very generous people.
