Pasta Making Workshop and Giveaway Winners!

Our Simple Living Toowoomba group will be presenting a Pasta Making Workshop on the 26th July. The son of Ron and Jennylyn Philips (who demonstrated how to make various cheeses in our first workshop of the year), will be presenting this one and it would be a good opportunity to bring along any interested young people you know to give some support to Joshua. It is so good to see a young person learning these skills.

Joshua will also be making some sauces to serve with the pasta. The workshop will be from 10am to 12 noon at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Hall, 23 Glenvale Road, Toowoomba. The cost will be $5 and bookings are required. Click here if you would like to book for the workshop.

Before the workshop begins we will have our monthly morning tea and swap at 9.30am and this is a great time for sharing ideas as well as swapping homemade items or homegrown produce. If you would like to take part then bring along up to five items and you can then swap them for five items. If you don't want to participate in the swap then just come along for a free cuppa if you  prefer to come to the morning tea and not the workshop.

In addition to this workshop there will be a craft one on the 8th July from 7pm to 9pm when Margaret will be teaching how to make the crochet grocery bag she brought along to our last morning tea.

As I mentioned in another post the pattern for this bag is on Knit-O-Matic. If you would like to attend you will need a ball of 4 ply cotton and a 4mm crochet hook. This workshop is free and there is no need to book so just come along and enjoy the evening.

Also the Australian wildlife book giveaway has now been drawn and, as I mentioned before, being on the cutting edge of technology the winners names were put into a hat and I asked my son to pick out four winners and they are:

Tracy

 Cheryl

Sarah

and the winner of the overseas draw was:

Kathy

I have contacted all the winners and am just waiting until Kathy gets out of bed and reads that she has won a book before packaging them up and sending them off. Thank you to everyone who entered in the giveaway and I hope that the winners enjoy the books.

Also thanks to my classmate, Coleen Heathwood, for donating four of her books for the giveaway. If you would like to buy one of them they are available from Boolarong Press.

  1. Hi Nanna Chel,
The pasta workshop does look very interesting. I do like the look of that crochet bag too so will give it a go after some other projects are finished! And I wish I had some little ones around for those books, but all the ones I know are grown up now. (Not sure when that happened. I remember being auntie in training with the first round and being told I put all the diapers on back to front :))

    Thanks for sharing

    1. Shiralee, I made a mess when I tried to make pasta so it should be an interesting workshop and hopefully I will learn how to prevent the mess next time.

  2. I'm up, I'm up! I'm so excited! I was just getting ready to leave a comment to the effect that in a perfect world I will someday get to Australia and there will be a workshop while I'm there and I will get to meet all the lovely ladies whose blogs I follow and then I saw my name! Thank you very much, I have so much fun following your blog, and now I will have a book for the new grand daughters box of things to do at grandma's, and I will tell her about the friends that I have not met! Thank you!
