WHAT A PRETTY BLOG!

The journey into Blogland is quite an interesting one at times. It is certainly a learning curve for an older person but I just plod along and meet some nice people along the way. One such person is the lovely Annabel who writes the very pretty blog The Bluebirds are Nesting.

I noticed the beautiful crochet she does and, not having ever progressed beyond making granny squares or rather crooked dishcloths, I asked how she crocheted the flowers I noticed on her blog. So at the moment she is helping me to improve my crochet skills and I thought I would let you have a look at some of the projects she has posted on her blog. She is happy for me to use her blog photos so take a look at some of her gorgeous handiwork.

If I keep trying maybe I will be able to crochet like this one day. I'd better hurry up though as I am not 21 anymore :-)

Aren't these gorgeous trims? You can read about them here.

Annabel has lots of ideas for making and decorating gifts for friends and relatives and she is very frugal even though the finished item looks quite expensive.

I just love the doiley bunting  and would make some myself if there was somewhere to put it in this house. It is so pretty and not difficult or expensive to sew.

It looks like Annabel is not only very talented but also very organised!

She wrote for Simple Savings for several years in The Beauty Thread and was co-contributor of the Indulgences Under 50c thread which ran for three years. I saw these powder puffs in one of her posts and was quite intrigued as to how she made them even though I am not a 'powder person' myself but a lot of people must be otherwise the shops wouldn't sell powder I guess. So she has just written the instructions here for making them as well as how she scents the powder she uses.

Annabel has just released her first eBook How To Make All Your Christmas Presents which is available on her website for A$4.00. In the eBook she incorporates a lot of ideas from her blog posts including  how to use what you already have available and what you might pick up that others are throwing out. She really gets you thinking about planning for Christmas by starting in January!

At the bottom of Annabel's blog is the very cute Chippy who looks quite at home amongst the lace.

Do spend some time browsing The Bluebirds are Nesting. It will be time well spent!

    1. Kathy, I imagine you are still getting used to being back home. Yes, Christmas isn't that far away I guess. It is not a busy time for us although this year I will be helping my girl with her new baby at the other end of the State.

  7. I too recently found Annabels blog via Wendy from My Abundant Life. I had noticed your presence over there Nanna Chel :)

Annabel is such a beautiful soul, and does lovely pretty craft work. I have never really been into pretty things, but Annabel is certainly changing my heart in this area. I have been hunting the op shops and hinting at people for bits and pieces so I can pretty up my home and make some of those lovely gifts :)
