Apparently it is corruption of a Persian word shiroshaker that means milk and sugar.Sherrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16322236537807536688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556636739806282968.post-51715580802411626022016-12-18T12:43:37.864+10:002016-12-18T12:43:37.864+10:00I never throw patterns away as I have mixed and ma...I never throw patterns away as I have mixed and matched parts of one to another. Now that my Granddaughter has arrived all these patterns have been returned to me. I have used all the little girl patterns so far. I'm so grateful Mum hung onto them.
I love the look of that top you are going to make. Loose, cool and pretty. It certainly is rather warm this summer. I could quite happily move to Tasmania right now. I can see that pattern being made up several times.
If there's the chance of more babies, hang onto the patterns. They cost too much to have to replace.Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06964345893499561504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556636739806282968.post-53898494518461402242016-12-18T09:51:07.448+10:002016-12-18T09:51:07.448+10:00Hi Nanna Chel! I have culled mine down to one shoe box now, but I still have pangs of regret about getting rid of some of them. And my (adult) daughters were very cranky with me for doing getting rid of them. I have bought a couple of Japanese sewing books and the patterns make up really well as long as you know what you're doing and don't need to rely too heavily on the instructions. The good thing is they don't take up much room on the shelf.Saskiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08166944039507301057noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556636739806282968.post-77742038067079067842016-12-18T09:49:27.528+10:002016-12-18T09:49:27.528+10:00Chel - I am really looking forward to the sew-a-lo...Chel - I am really looking forward to the sew-a-long early next year. It will be good to see how different everyone interprets that pattern......pyjamas, tops, dresses. I was having extreme difficulties with Pinterest for nearly a week (no pictures on ipad or PC) but this was back in November on the Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend which is why it took so long to fix I was told. I am not having any issues at present though.Blinkyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14174497209929607308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556636739806282968.post-5919247856968220202016-12-18T07:10:45.631+10:002016-12-18T07:10:45.631+10:00Anything 1940's style is worth money these day...Anything 1940's style is worth money these days - pop the 1940sstyle patterns on eBay with a vintage style tag and see what happens.Phil Poggeauxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10528068263542083696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556636739806282968.post-7918626846731791312016-12-17T20:18:19.734+10:002016-12-17T20:18:19.734+10:00I hate to say that I haven't even used a coupl...I hate to say that I haven't even used a couple of them, Maria. Please don't forget to post a photo of the finished item. I'm with you Nanna Chel, I was supposed to go to the markets, but the heat put me off. I'm now hoping to go to the PCYC ones tomorrow, but we will see. Stay cool and enjoy the holidays, thanks for sharing. I'm in the same boat as you, with the grandchildren a long distance away, and the little dress I made for Isla two years ago was pronounced as "huge" when it arrived in the post. I still don't think it's ever been worn, so it's put me off sewing for them. I do especially love the last pattern that you showed, for a top. I love wearing those loose fitting sleeveless tops during the heat of summer, but are hard to find. And as for changing your mind about going out today, you certainly are allowed to do that! ;-) Jembella Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07646075804716647311noreply@blogger.com
