Sew Retro Victorian Pincushion

A while back I came across a really cute pincushion pattern on the internet so I downloaded it but never got around to making it up. However, recently on the Down to Earth Forums some of the members challenged themselves to use up their fabric stash before buying any more so I decided the time had come to unearth the pattern and make the 'Sew Retro Victorian Pincushion'.

The pattern is available on the Singer website here and the instructions are very clear.

Even someone who is just learning how to sew could make this useful pincushion and ...

...it would make a great gift for a friend or family member who loves sewing.

I used the sewing machine to make mine but it could quite easily be hand sewn as well. I think it is very cute but didn't use up much of my fabric stash so the next project will be something that requires a metre or more of fabric...hopefully :-)

By the way the Down to Earth Forums are down at the moment while some upgrading is being done. However, if you are a member or want to join the forums there is a Facebook page here if you are a Facebooker which I am not but one of the other moderators who is has kindly updated me. Hopefully everything will be up and running again and be better than ever in the next few days...perhaps tomorrow all being well.

Don't forget the Australian wildlife book giveaway closes on the 30th June and you can click here  to enter. It is open to both Aussie and overseas readers. Email me at nannachel@gmail.com  if you have trouble entering. Everyone is welcome to enter.

    1. I have had that Pom Pom braid for ages, Barb but thought it would get wrecked if added to clothes for my granddaughters due to washing so this was a good project to use it for.

  3. Beautiful! I still have my very first pin cushion I made out of felt in primary school. I don't sew a lot, so I guess it keeps well. :-)

  5. This is really awesome, so much of my so called stash is remnants of projects, just good for the never quite done quilt pieces! I've got a lot of pieces this size!! Thanks

  6. It is a good way to use up little pieces of fabric that's for sure, Kathy.

  7. I love the pretty fabric and it's a lovely designed pin cushion. Your simple living morning making soap and swapping things sounds like a lovely morning with like minded people. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane
