...and a good chinwag was had by all!

This morning I had the pleasure of catching up with a group of lovely ladies I have met online through the Down to Earth Simple Living Forums and also our Simple Living Toowoomba group.

A couple of my favourite bloggers had travelled to Toowoomba for the day and I was pleased it wasn't a dismal, cold day like it had been during the week. Blinky from The Herb Barrow and Hutchy from Beyond the Garden Gate arrived safely and joined Margaret, Kerry, Vicki and myself in a good old chinwag for a few hours before they left to head back onto the highway. 

I am sure we entertained fellow patrons of the cafe where we met as Margaret (pictured above) had the needles out and started off my new pair of socks with the 'proper' sock yarn which is a lot thinner than the 8ply I had used for the sock I finished last week. The needles are thinner as well so I hope I can get the hang of knitting with them. 

 

Margaret also showed us a beautiful face washer she is knitting which is so very soft. She was explaining to us how to knit that pretty edging but I think I would need a YouTube tutorial. :-)

She also brought along her shrug which featured in the post Easy Knitted Shrug in Garter Stitch which she is modelling above so we all had a look at how it was knitted and then...

...Vicki was wearing it before we knew it. This is the front...

...and this is the back...obviously!  It is very light and soft and drapes beautifully. 

I asked Kerry to bring along her hexagons she is making as the plan is to sew them together into a quilt after she was inspired by Margy's queen sized quilt which you may have seen in the post Hexagon Learning Curve. There are over 1,000 hexagon shapes in this quilt and it is just amazing. I hope Kerry achieves her goal. Sewing these can be a little addictive I find and they are easy to carry around in your bag as you can pull them out and sew a couple when waiting in doctor's surgeries etc. Well, to be honest you could probably sew enough for a cot quilt when waiting in some doctor's surgeries. LOL!

After talking for three hours or so it was time to go home and do some exercise so I said hello to the guinea pigs and then took a walk around the garden. 

 

I noticed that the CEO's pest control methods hadn't worked on the fig trees so more homework will have to be done to discover a more effective treatment.  

I think the passionfruit vine appreciated the rain of late and there were a number of stunning flowers just asking me to take a photo of them. Aren't they fascinating? Quite strange looking but fascinating just the same.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend wherever you are.We have the shortest day of the year coming up so I am sure all Aussies will be happy to see their daylight hours gradually start getting longer. Unfortunately I don't think our Northern Hemisphere friends will be so happy that their days will be getting shorter as it doesn't seem to be all that long ago that they still had snow falling in some areas.
