Rhonda's visit to Simple Living Toowoomba

We had a lovely morning at our monthly Simple Living Toowoomba meeting. Rhonda and Hanno drove over from the Sunshine Coast hinterland and thankfully the weather had improved greatly from what it was like yesterday when it was blowing a gale and snowing on the Granite Belt.

It turned out to be a lovely sunny day but was cool in the church hall so the heaters were on and I don't think anyone froze. Rhonda spoke about her life and how her blog and simple living journey had started and also shared a little about her new book which will be published next year.

While she chatted we all worked on our craft projects and Margaret of Easy Knitted Shrug in Garter Stitch fame was working on a beanie beside me and making me so envious of how effortlessly she was able to knit without making any mistakes. Sigh!

Annette who is an expert at crochet was making a colourful rug on my other side.  Again effortlessly. Sigh again!

Another lady was doing some mending and brought along this gorgeous pincushion which would be really easy to make from a couple of doileys.

Racheal (correct spelling) was making her laundry powder bottles look pretty with some leftover stickers.

Our co-ordinator, Margy, was making what will probably be a keepsake for her family which was absolutely beautiful.

We also had our usual swap and Rhonda brought along some yarn and a lot of vintage patterns which brought back memories. Not that I am vintage of course. LOL!

Annette made some very cute mug warmers which will come in handy during this cold winter.

Racheal makes the most fabulous skin products including this Orange Lip Balm and Macadamia Latte Gardener's Soap.  Last month I brought home a cake of her Nettle Soap which she told me how to make today.

We also had homegrown produce and herbs to swap as well.

All in all it was a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning and I am sure everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and came away having learned something new. If you live in the Toowoomba region or are visiting at any time and would like to join us for one of our monthly meetings, you can find out more information on Simple Living Toowoomba.

As mentioned in my last post our next presentation will be held on the 15th August and the topic will be 'Keeping Backyard Chooks'. If you would like to attend and have any questions you would like to ask the presenter, please email me and I will pass them on to him.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  1. How good meeting Rhonda! The produce swap is such a good idea, I just love that. We all have excesses of one thing and a swap sorts it out. Mine currently is lemons. So I made lemon butter and used up 12 on Friday which helped a bit.
Your day was really wonderful I wish I was there! xxx

    1. She wouldn't like to think she is a pinup girl, Mimi. LOL! She is very 'down to earth'. Pardon the pun ;-)

  5. Was so sorry to have missed this meeting, family illness comes first. Was wondering how the weather on the hill was that day.
