Last Wednesday, after we visited Laurel Bank Park which I featured in my last post, we then moved on to Queens Park which is right next to our CBD and is possibly the most popular and most used park in Toowoomba. The gardens there are more formal than Laurel Bank which is always a little quirky and many visitors are saying they have never seen them looking as good as they are this year. Obviously we had good growing conditions this year but they always looks fabulous to me anyway and we often used to take the children there when they were growing up to play on the swings and playground equipment.
There are so many beautiful gardens to look at...
...all carefully planned out..
...and which would look even better from the viewing platform...
...which wasn't in place when we visited. You can see the view from the cherry picker in this video.
Some flowers look equally as good from a distance ...
...as well as close up.
The colours are just amazing aren't they?
The formal Parterre Garden is always worth taking a look at and having a walk through.
There are little surprises to be found in amongst the plants as well.
Back in my humble front garden...as you can see my Fuschia has just started flowering and is looking lovely at the moment with more buds to open in the next few days.
If you are visiting the Carnival do spend some time walking through our beautiful parks. You can find a list of them here. There is also a list of Community Floral Events which are being held this week as well as the Teapot Extravaganza , Farmers' Markets, Steam Train Rides plus lots of other events which you can take your pick from. There is something there to suit everyone from the young to the old. We certainly do live in a beautiful city.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos, Chel.
ReplyDeleteI have never been able to go to the "Carnival" but love seeing the the stunning display on the TV each year.
You would love it, Blinky. I hope you can make it one year.
DeleteImagine being one of the gardeners....how satisfying.
ReplyDeleteYes it would be, Phil. They work very hard for a long time on these gardens.
Deleteloving these photos and your tour through Carnival of Flowers, do you know what the blue/purple flowering plants are in your second photo?
ReplyDeleteHelsyd, from memory they were Lobelias. Quite a beautiful colour.
ReplyDeletethank you - they do look beautiful :)
DeleteLovely pictures. They always put on a spectacular floral display, every year. I haven't been there yet, although my husband, took part in the Carnival Parade, yesterday. He was the Sylvester McCoy, version of Dr Who, when the local Dr Who club did a walking team. Did you see the Darlek? That was them.
ReplyDeleteIt had a voice modulator in it, so when the person inside spoke, they sounded like a real Darlek. Lots of people stopped them for photographs with the Darlek, and they would say (in a Darlek voice) "Photo time!" It was a lot of fun.
David said he gave stacks of kids, High-5's, during the parade too. I might visit the gardens, towards the end of the two weeks, when there are less crowds. :)
Chris, I didn't go to the Parade. That sounded like a great group. The kids would have loved it.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! A city full of flowers surely makes a positive impact on people as they busily going about their business. We made the 2.5 hour drive to Canberra's Floriade Festival last year and can't wait for it this year.
ReplyDeleteZena, Floriade must be beautiful too. I would love to see it.
DeleteHow gorgeous, I love the ones that look like a carpet of flowers. What a beautiful day. Flowers make me happy! Have a great week Nanna Chel.xxx
ReplyDeleteThere are just rows and rows of those gardens, Annabel. They look fabulous from the viewing platform.
DeleteLovely photos, im sure you enjoyed taking them.
ReplyDeleteTrying to do them justice is the issue, Lynda.
