So many UFOs!!!

Does anyone else have a lot of UFOs? I am sure I am not the only one. I decided I would take note of what projects I have started that need to be finished otherwise I will start some more and just leave them to be finished 'one day'.

As I will be visiting my grandchildren in Mt.Isa in a couple of weeks time my first priority is to finish off my little grandson's rag quilt which is being made in the fabric my girl has decorated his room in. I need to sew on another few rows and then the tedious task of cutting the seam edges needs to be done before the washing and drying process starts. There really isn't any hurry for the quilt though as it is still 35C up there.

I have nearly finished a scarf which is going to become an infinity scarf and I just have to join the ends together.

This is quite an easy pattern which suits a basic knitter like myself and it is called a  One Row Lace Scarf .

I have also started up a scarf using the same pattern but using a much softer yarn which has mohair in it. The yarn was from Lifeline so I really scored well.

This is a little skirt for Miss Five who is soon to become Miss Six. She loves dogs and I bought the doggie fabric when she was about two and was making her a dress out of it when I scorched it. I was so disappointed and just put it away in a drawer. I unearthed it the other day and was able to cut off enough fabric to make a skirt by adding some plain fabric as well.

I thought I would give Tunisian Crochet a try and started making a dishcloth but it was going to be a tad too small so I undid it. I followed Tunisian Crochet Basics from Purl Soho and found that I quite liked following the pattern.

It could become addictive.

Last but not least is this dishcloth which is being knitted with string. I am making it a bit bigger than normal as the string does shrink. The pattern has lots of different names including Easy Everyday Dishcloth.  It is a fairly easy pattern to start off with. I am no expert as is obvious but I don't think the dirty dishes will mind ;-) Practice makes perfect as they say.

So there you have it. I am going to finish these before I start another project. How about you? Do you have many UFOs or do you finish what you start?

  1. What's a UFO? I'm assuming it means Un-Finished...something? Or I could be completely wrong.

Wonderful effort all round though. :)

  2. UFOs are unfinished objects or works in progress, Chris. I think quite a lot of us have plenty of UFOs. :-)

Most of my UFO's are in the garden.

  3. Chel, you are doing so well to only have 5 and some of them are almost finished.
I love having a few things on the go , some easy so you can just cruise along while watching tv, some that are interesting and need some concentration, something small that you can take along when you travel ,and something challenging, like making up the pattern as you go.

It's all good fun, good for your brain, good for your finger joints and good to end up with something useful, lovely or cosy for yourself or a gift.......and it's cheaper than therapy but it is addictive 😊

    1. Margaret, I pulled out the dishcloth last night as I didn't have my knitting unpicker available to pull out a few rows ;-) I was making it larger than the pattern and it was starting to look lopsided so back to square one now.

  4. Wonderful UFO's you have. I'm not going to mention how many I have and at least one is about 8 years old!

  5. Your quilt is just lovely! I really dislike the snipping, so I go flat out till my hands are sore and get it all done as quickly as possible, like a bandaid. mind you I dont have arthritis to contend with either. But even then my hands hurt.

Love the colour of that infinity scarf. I love infinity scarves, what a wonderful investion, I can actually keep them on!

  6. How many UFO's do I have? well Nanna Chel sad to say far far too many. I have a quilt that I started for my son when he was 10, he is now 24. I collected all his favorite things (in fabric), eg computers, cats, bugs etc. then I fell pregnant with his sister and my time was never my own. I will finish it one day and give to him, so he can remember the sweet boy he was and still is (in my eyes). I love your quilt and the skirt is so sweet, my 14yo daughter would love that fabric as well. Take care, Guida.

  8. I think most crafters have UFO's. If not, you are just not doing it right. Right? :)
I must have a dozen things on the go. I have a shawl scarf on crochet hook and a small quilt just beside me at the moment. If I was to walk into my craft room then I could list off the other things I have on the go. I am however at the point where I will finish a few of them and then start more projects. I just can't stay focused on one thing at a time and get sidetracked alot.

Have fun with your projects. They will get done ... eventually. :)

  9. Great work Nanna Chel. I have just finished four UFO's. I have way too many to count but I'm slowly working through them. I do start and finish others in between UFO's to keep me motivated. I'm starting to get to items which need more complex thought and work, so I guess I'll be slowing down a bit. The raggy quilt snips make the snipping much easier on your hands. You'll be so pleased to be able to give your grandson his raggy quilt. All the best.

  10. Emmbee, your quilts are absolutely gorgeous. You should start up a blog and show them off. You might even talk me into being a quilt maker.
