The end of the road

Well, probably not the end of the road but Rhonda's talk at our local library was the end of her book tour. You may have read my post about her latest book The Simple Home a little while ago.

It is interesting that our Simple Living Toowoomba group started up after Rhonda's visit to Toowoomba at the start of her first book tour after writing Down to Earth and her last tour ended in Toowoomba as well.

Rhonda's talk was packed out as all 80 tickets were taken and I think many more people would have liked to attend.

She spoke about the different chapters in her book which follows through the months of the year and gives tips on appropriate simple living goals to set for each month e.g. January is the month to plan for the coming year and December is a time to review the year, celebrate with our friends and family and think about what will change next year.

Here is Margaret, one of our Simple Living Toowoomba ladies helping out with the mic while Rhonda reads an excerpt from her book. Margaret is a skilled knitter and had me transfixed as she knitted a beanie on double pointed needles without looking at her work during the talk. She fixes my knitting mistakes for me :-)

Then the talk was over and it was time to sign books.

Of course, Rhonda's willing helper, her hubby Hanno helped with setting everything up and selling the books. He is looking quite well after his recent illness which was great to see.

So now Rhonda will settle into retirement but we had a discussion about this after the talk and we think she will come out of retirement eventually. It would be difficult for such a gifted writer to retire completely....wouldn't it? What do you think? :-)

After a pleasant morning out it was back to work when I got home as it was time to dig up the turmeric. Now I just have to work out what I am going to do with it. I will watch Jeff Heriot's YouTube video about how he harvests his and also I noticed that Rob Bob has made a video as well. Both these men have wonderful gardens so check them out when you have time.

I hope everyone is having as nice a weekend as I am. It is certainly a lot warmer than last weekend when our east coast was being battered by wind and rain. I hope that anyone who sustained damage in the storms is coping alright and receiving help.

  1. What an amazing woman is Rhonda. I wonder if she stops to reflect what a global impact she has had on so many lives? She is 'tuth' in action and gives us all hope.

    1. Blinky, there would be a lot of pulling out of yarn. LOL! Just working with the DPNs is stressful enough when I am looking at what I am doing ;-)

  5. Did the weather stay good in your area this weekend? I spent much of yesterday in the garden and the weather was beautiful. Today we had westerly breezes which made it much cooler. I am glad Rhonda's talk went well.

  6. Sherri, it was nice yesterday but today it was cold, windy and overcast and we had a bit of drizzle before. It always makes such a difference when the sun is shining.

  8. I just love the life that Rhonda leads. I love her 'closed gate' style of life. Just her, Hanno and her garden and crafts. A very simple life indeed.
