Sausage Making Workshop ~ Simple Living Toowoomba

As you may have read in the post 'Soap making workshop using the cold process 'one pot' method' our Simple Living Toowoomba workshops have begun for 2016 and the next one will be held on the 12th March instead of the usual third Saturday of the month due to the local council elections being held on the 19th March. We will be having a demonstration on how to make sausages.

Our co-ordinator Margy is very happy about this as she has been trying to find someone to do this workshop for a couple of years so Rick is the man! Rick is the husband of Racheal who presented our soap making workshop so, as you can tell, they are a multi talented twosome.

Everyone is welcome to attend if you can make it although I know it is a bit far to fly from the Northern Hemisphere even though I know you would love to come and enjoy our Aussie end of summer days but those who live closer might like to join us. If you can the details are as below:

Sausage Making Workshop

Date: 12 March2016
Time: 10-12 noon
Cost: $5
Where: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 23 Glenvale Road, Toowoomba.

We will be having our handmade and homegrown swap before the workshop. If you would like to be involved bring up to five items. All items need to be on the table by 9.45am.

Bookings Required: RSVP 10 March

In April we are having a beekeeping workshop if you are interested and here are the details for that:

Bee Keeping

Date: 16 April 2016
Time: 10-12 noon
Cost: $5
Where: 140 Carroll Rd, Hodgsonvale (red mail box with the name HUNT on it)

What: Mr Neville Hunt from the Beekeepers Association has very kindly invited us to come to his place to see how to keep bees. He will show us the equipment required and outline the processes involved.

There will be no swap on this day.

Bookings Required: RSVP 13 April

Hodgsonvale is about 12 kilometres south of Toowoomba on the New England Highway.

I am not sure what workshops we will be having after that. The fermenting and rag rug workshops are always very popular as are the cheese making ones. Who knows - we might even have another visit from Rhonda but I doubt it as she has a huge book promoting tour coming up. Don't forget, her book The Simple Home is due out on 1st March. I can't wait to read it. I actually have reserved it from our city library and am number two in the queue. :-) If you live in the southern states and would like to meet Rhonda, check out her tour itinerary as she might be coming to a city near you. She will be going as far south as Tasmania. Can't go much further south than that!

Edited to add on 25/2/16: Rhonda's book is on special at QBD from 7am to 7pm today for $33.75 instead of $45 if you would like to order one with free shipping in Australia. Click here to check it out.

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

  8. Your community is amazing Nanna Chel. All these skills are just wonderful.
I enjoyed soap making very much. Rag rugs are coming as I have fabric Im cutting into ribbon yarn. It is stretch knits and just right for this and I plan to crochet them... if it works.
I love learning a new skill and I am interested in beee keeping although Im not sure if I would be brave enought with the bees. However I love honey and think its amazing stuff.
Hope to be able to show you some rug progress soon. With love Annabel.xxx
