I just haven't been taking part in the blogging world for a few weeks so sorry to my blogging friends that I haven't left a comment on your recent posts. Sometimes I just can't be bothered resizing photos and making the effort to be lucid enough to write a blog post when I can just bury my head in a book :-)
Like a couple of other blogs I know of it has become difficult for readers to leave a comment on my blog depending on what device is used. I have noticed that my sidebar takes about two minutes to download and then the page seems to refresh itself resulting in the comments that have been half written disappearing into cyberspace. I have no idea how to correct that problem but I find when I have the same issue on another blog I just open another tab and go on to read something else while the page is downloading and then go back and am then able to leave a comment. Of course, most people are too busy to do that and if you have a solution to the problem I would love to hear from you. You can always leave a comment on the 'Contact Me' form on the bottom right side of the page when it has downloaded....if you have the patience that is!
One of the reasons I have been burying my head in books is to distract myself as the skin cancer clinic doctor did some stitching on my face a few weeks ago to remove what turned out to be a malignant lesion which means I have to have further surgery which will necessitate seeing a private specialist of some sort or the ENT department of the General Hospital and seeing as we have no medical cover a referral was sent to the General Hospital a couple of weeks ago. On Tuesday I had a phone call from them to 'put me in the system' and it could be 90 days before I get an appointment so you can see why I needed some distraction due to the fact that the lesion was malignant. Anyway, life goes on.
We had 58mm of rain over Easter so our dahlias have gone crazy and are now growing over the pathway so there will be a job coming up as the bulbs are removed. I think every dahlia bulb that my hubby has planted over the last 40+ years is being productive.
Hope it all goes well for you! I totally agree about a book -the way to escape into another world
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have read a lot of books in the past year and have learned an awful lot about American history as most of the authors are from the USA 😁
DeleteSorry to hear about your medical issues, I have been getting my skin checked every 3 months for about 2 years since I had a stage 2 melanoma on my back and my sister had a stage 3 which required surgery and a year of medication. Better that it's detected now and hopefully you'll be able to get to hospital sooner rather than later. Health is Wealth so looking after yourself is a priority. Take care and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteKathy I thought every six months was enough but after this episode I might do the same as you as this lesion has appeared since the last checkup. Who knows how long it is going to take to get an appointment at the hospital.
DeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Escaping into books is a great strategy and my hope is that you find some interesting diversions (and, of course, that the wait for surgery is not too long).
ReplyDeleteWendy thanks for you well wishes. It is times like this when I wish I had medical cover although I know a lot of people who do and they are still left out of pocket after some surgical procedures.
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious flowers which I am sure helped lift your heart. Goodluck with your treatment but you have already helped yourself by getting check ups to catch things early. If only we knew about sun damage 60 years ago 😪 then maybe I wouldn't have had to have a large skin flap surgery on my temple. I drive my niece crazy with the slip slop slap message. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks Bernie. I had a skin flap done on the side of my nose but the margins of the lesion were against the ridge of the nose so I have no idea what the ENT doctors at the General Hospital are going to do. I try not to imagine to be honest. LOL!
DeleteOh Chel I feel for you with your skin problems, I find anything like that really upsetting but we have to just get on with things don't we? Your dahlias and roses are beautiful. I think you might just have a green thumb to have flowers like those in your garden. Take care and hope it's getting cooler for you down there. Best wishes, Pauline
ReplyDeleteThanks Pauline. My roses only bloom occasionally unlike those in the nearby Queensland Rose Garden which always seem to be bloom apart from during winter but perhaps it only looks like that as there are so many of them. We have had a couple of warm days but the cold is on its way I believe.
DeleteI hope that cancer is all cleared up and that the Dr got good margins on it. We ended up with 42mm and the garden has gone nuts. It is so wonderful to see a green and lush garden. At the start of March the whole town was looking brown and crunchy. I cant grow roses. I have tried and I have decided that all that is needed to sign their death warrant is for me to glance in their direction. SO there are zero roses here.
ReplyDeleteHi Jane. I am yet to get an appointment at the hospital about my nose.It was nice to get a few days of rain. The lawnmowers were very busy last week.
