Happy Father's Day

A big Happy Father's Day to all our Aussie dads! I believe Father's Day has already been celebrated elsewhere in the world.

I lost my dad many years ago but I have fond memories of him. He was a hard working man and didn't retire until he was 75! Although he wasn't an affectionate person, as a lot of men of his generation didn't seem to be, I knew he loved me and I feel sad when I hear or read of children who have never known a father's love or have been treated badly by them.

So I hope that you can give your dad a big hug today if he lives nearby or can ring him and thank him for being your dad.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Yep - well I am one dad whose cups runs over. It does not take fathers day for me to feel grateful for all that I have and hold.

  2. I hope you aren't feeling too badly this morning Phil. It would have been a late night for you all. Enjoy your day.

  3. My Dad has been gone now for 7 years and I still find myself surprised by his absence on occasion. It is a good reminder to tell your loved ones that you love them while you can, I am glad I don't have that regret now! Happy Fathers day to all the dads 'down under'!

  4. There are certain things about having two aspies in the house that are both good and bad. One is that emotions are expressed freely. On the plus side, the lack of understanding social norms means they often tell each other they love each other, stop for hugs anytime of the day and at times are the best of friends. I love watching them play and laugh together, father and son. They can be so funny because there are no limits. This does however work both ways.

My Dad died when i was 10 so i dont remember much. I know he worked hard to provide for his six children and sadly passed when Mum and he were very happy after years of struggle.

Happy Fathers Day to all Dads. If i have one wish its that like my guys love is expressed rather than assumed.
