The workshop will commence at 10am but if you live in the area and are able to come along, you have the option of joining us for a cuppa beforehand at 9.30am and also taking part in our monthly swap of homemade items or homegrown produce. Bring along one to five items and you can exchange them for the same number of items. Vegetables and fruit are always popular as are cakes of soap and craft items...basically anything you have made or grown yourself.
Two young mums, Racheal and Rachael, will be presenting the workshop and they will show us how to make a variety of homemade health and beauty products such as vapour rub, sunscreen, lip balm, solid perfume, facial cleanser and shaving cream.
This promises to be a very interesting workshop so do come along if you are able. You can read more about the workshop and where the venue is on the Simple Living Toowoomba website which is where you can also book in. The cost is $5.
However, if you don't live anywhere near our beautiful city and can't attend and yet you would love to experiment with making your own products, Wellness Mama has heaps of good information on her website. Of course there are also lots and lots of sites to check out on this Pinterest page as well.
Rhonda has a recipe for Calendula Salve on her blog and she has step by step instructions on there as well.
Everyone is most welcome to come along to the workshop and I am sure it will be as successful as our last one which was the Rag Rug Workshop.
You have sooooo much good stuff happening in your area - very envious!
ReplyDeleteYes Phil, we are fortunate that we have an enthusiastic co-ordinator and a great venue with a kitchen.
DeleteOh how i wish i could jump on a plane and come and have a morning cuppa with you and the ladies. Probably not a good reason for all those carbon miles but it would be so nice. Just me....
ReplyDeleteYou mean you wouldn't bring the boys, Lynda. LOL! QANTAS now flies in to our new Wellcamp West Brisbane Airport privately built by one of our local companies if that is an incentive. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be wonderful...
ReplyDeleteFaye, you would be most welcome but it is a little too far for you to come and probably too hot as well. LOL!
DeleteOh That sounds wonderful! If it would have been on the 21st, I would have come along. Have fun!

Frances, I would have thought you would be too busy cleaning up after the cyclone once you get home. I hope you don't have too many nasty surprises.
DeleteI do envy you your group and all the fun workshops and get togethers you have, I will have to get motivated to see if there are workshops like this near me. I love hearing about them and seeing the results though - thanks for sharing with us!!

ReplyDeleteNanna Chel,
I think it'll be as good as the rag rug workshop. I'll be there if I can be and looking forward to seeing what the two mama's show us.
-Shiralee
Wish I could come. I am amazed its only $5 too!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things we can make ourselves and really they are better than much of what is in the shops (less chemicals for one). It sounds like a great workshop. xxx
Annabel, the workshops are great and this coming one should be really popular as there has been a lot of concern lately about what chemicals are in the skin products we use.
DeleteI wish we had these types of workshops here. How fun. I do have those yellow flowers growing in my front bed. Did not know they were a medicinal type plant until I read this. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteThey are Calendulas, Krystal. I put the dried flowers in oil in the sun for a few weeks to infuse. No problem with getting enough sun over here in Australia. :-)
DeleteOh, I wish I could be there or at least find something like that here. I think that the only way I will be able to attend anything like this is to sponsor and give workshops myself. Man.
ReplyDeleteJ, you will just have to start up your own group. No question about it. ;-)
