Heading into winter

 The weeks are rolling by and we are currently experiencing very cold weather which apparently is about 10 degrees colder than the average May temperatures and the chill factor is taking some time to get used to. Last week we had very scary storms and one night I thought our roof or a tree had been struck by lightning and I actually ducked as I expected the roof to cave in. Some parts of town had small hail and a lot of rain but we only had some light rain here and thankfully no hail at all. The storms have gone and have left us with very cold weather for a while. 

This and That

 I just haven't been taking part in the blogging world for a few weeks so sorry to my blogging friends that I haven't left a comment on your recent posts. Sometimes I just can't be bothered resizing photos and making the effort to be lucid enough to write a blog post when I can just bury my head in a book :-)

Full steam ahead!

Finally we have a date for when the kitchen and bathroom renos will start so I need to have packed up the kitchen and bathroom items by the 1st November. No more procrastinating! Well, just a little as I had to take some photos of some of the roses that are flowering at the moment as I am quite chuffed seeing as this is the first time I have grown roses.

Honey and Rosehip Soap

I am not sure why but we seem to be going through soap rather quickly these days. So I thought I would make a couple of smaller batches of soap from Jan Berry's Simple and Natural Soapmaking. The first one I made was based on her Wild Rosehips and Honey Soap.

We had some drama here during the week. In the early hours of Tuesday morning three aggressive dogs got into our yard even though the gate was shut. Our locked wooden guinea pig cages were no match for these ferocious animals and I lost my three cute little pets after the dogs ripped apart and splintered their cages. The guinea pigs were nowhere to be seen so I can only imagine what happened to them.

A sad day

It is a sad today for the Down to Earth Forum members today as we lost our Rose who bravely fought a battle with cancer through much of 2016. She will be greatly missed as she was a wonderful teacher and was instrumental in helping a lot of members, particularly the young ones, how to set up a daily routine in their lives and through her challenges helped them be more organised in their homes and lives.
