Sometimes I can't be bothered blogging, cleaning windows, sorting through the 'junk' room and so on and so forth. Am I alone in feeling this way although I doubt it? Anyone who blogs knows that first you have to take photos, then you have to resize them for a blog post and then you need to be lucid enough to think of something sensible to write while other bloggers seemingly have a mine of information in their heads to share with the world in each and every post. Not so in this little neck of the woods unfortunately. Most of the time it takes too much effort to turn on the PC to write a post as normally I am on the iPad which is much more convenient but sadly can't be used to write a Blogger post unless someone can inform me of a new App that has been designed for that purpose.

The old and the new
As many of my readers would know I have been involved in Rhonda's Down to Earth forum for a number of years. During that time I have come to know other members from around the world and at the touch of a computer mouse there was always someone on the forum to share with about daily living, how to make sourdough, soap, stockpiling and so on.
However, the time came last week for Rhonda to chose the forum down as she is busy with her growing family and as most people would be aware it does take a lot of time administer such a busy forum. Many thanks to Rhonda for her years of hard work there.
Of course, many of the members were quite disheartened at the thought of losing contact with such close forum buddies so a few brave souls set out to start up a new forum called The Homemaker's Forum and the Grand Opening was on Monday 20th March so it is brand new.

A Blogging Milestone ~ 500 posts
Who would have thought that I would ever write 500 blog posts? Certainly not me! One reason I tried my hand at blogging was because my boss at work was thinking of starting a blog for our department and, as I had no idea of what a blog actually was, I figured I had better find out in a hurry. As it turned out we never did start one but I did learn a few tips about the process along the way. Now that I am retired I use mine as a visual diary which I can look back on and see what I have grown in the garden in past years, what the weather was like during each season and so on.

Two years on...who would have thought?
Well it is two years today since I started up my blog with the post Welcome to Going Grey and Slightly Green. As I really didn't have much of an idea of how to set up a blog I wasn't sure how long it would last before I gave up in despair. However, I have been given lots of hints along the way from friends I have made online so here I am two years later!

A Spoonful of Sugar - what a pretty blog!
There are so many great blogs out there in Blogland and I find myself especially drawn to those that are 'pretty' so to speak. I guess that is because they feature decor and other bits and pieces that I would like to have in my own home. Well, today when we were experiencing yet another extremely hot day with a temperature of 35C and I was spending an inordinate amount of time on the internet as it was too hot to do much housework, I clicked on a link on the Down to Earth Forums and it took me to A Spoonful of Sugar and into pages and pages of beautifully crafted handiwork, yummy recipes and lots of plain and simple good ideas.

OH NO! I'VE DELETED A BLOG POST BY MISTAKE !!!
Anyone who has a blog knows it can take ages to write some blog posts especially if you are sourcing information and adding links for your readers to check out and particularly if you have a penchant for fiddling around in Picmonkey like I do.

WHAT A PRETTY BLOG!
The journey into Blogland is quite an interesting one at times. It is certainly a learning curve for an older person but I just plod along and meet some nice people along the way. One such person is the lovely Annabel who writes the very pretty blog The Bluebirds are Nesting.

Is 2014 your year to start a blog?
As any readers would know who have been reading here since I started my blog in June 2013, it has all been a bit of a learning curve. I had a lot of help from experienced bloggers on the Down to Earth Forums while setting it up and have learned quite a lot since that time which I would like to share in case there is anyone out there who is trying to make the decision whether to take the plunge into the world of blogging in 2014.

Welcome to Going Grey and Slightly Green.
It is the first day of winter and, if the forecasters are correct, it will be a wet and cold one. I am hoping they are wrong though. If not, I have my trusty gumboots ready to slosh around the back yard in while picking mandarins which are in plentiful supply.
