I noticed the beautiful crochet she does and, not having ever progressed beyond making granny squares or rather crooked dishcloths, I asked how she crocheted the flowers I noticed on her blog. So at the moment she is helping me to improve my crochet skills and I thought I would let you have a look at some of the projects she has posted on her blog. She is happy for me to use her blog photos so take a look at some of her gorgeous handiwork.
If I keep trying maybe I will be able to crochet like this one day. I'd better hurry up though as I am not 21 anymore :-)
Aren't these gorgeous trims? You can read about them here.
Annabel has lots of ideas for making and decorating gifts for friends and relatives and she is very frugal even though the finished item looks quite expensive.
I just love the doiley bunting and would make some myself if there was somewhere to put it in this house. It is so pretty and not difficult or expensive to sew.
It looks like Annabel is not only very talented but also very organised!
She wrote for Simple Savings for several years in The Beauty Thread and was co-contributor of the Indulgences Under 50c thread which ran for three years. I saw these powder puffs in one of her posts and was quite intrigued as to how she made them even though I am not a 'powder person' myself but a lot of people must be otherwise the shops wouldn't sell powder I guess. So she has just written the instructions here for making them as well as how she scents the powder she uses.
At the bottom of Annabel's blog is the very cute Chippy who looks quite at home amongst the lace.
Do spend some time browsing The Bluebirds are Nesting. It will be time well spent!
Oh my, what a talented lady and doesnt her name suit her skills. Will certainly follow up on your links. Now who has become the master blog hopper? Great review.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a great blog to browse through, Lynda.
DeleteHave been browsing The Bluebirds are Nesting - blog and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThe story about the parrot... how he became part of their family, did you read that? I was deeply touched.
Annabel's a very talented lady with a heart of gold, too.
Cheers,
Jeanneke.
Jeanneke, I was nearly in tears reading that story about the parrot. They certainly are a wonderful couple as her hubby is always doing acts of kindness as well.
DeleteOh bloody hell, now i really have to read it. Cant resist a tear jerker...
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely story, Lynda.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a very feminine looking blog with gorgeous pics.
ReplyDeleteDeb, it certainly is very feminine looking. Annabel makes some beautiful things and her crochet looks so nice.
DeleteThank you for the referral! What a beautiful blog to follow and she has really great ideas! I have been resisting thinking about Christmas! :( Time is really going to fast for me!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I imagine you are still getting used to being back home. Yes, Christmas isn't that far away I guess. It is not a busy time for us although this year I will be helping my girl with her new baby at the other end of the State.
DeleteDear Nanna Chel this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me! You are so kind and I appreciate this so much. I came to look and am just amazed at how beautifully you did this. Cant believe it. Thank you so much for you kindness, Annabel.xxx
ReplyDeleteAnnabel, I am more than happy to promote such a lovely blog!
DeleteI too recently found Annabels blog via Wendy from My Abundant Life. I had noticed your presence over there Nanna Chel :)
ReplyDeleteAnnabel is such a beautiful soul, and does lovely pretty craft work. I have never really been into pretty things, but Annabel is certainly changing my heart in this area. I have been hunting the op shops and hinting at people for bits and pieces so I can pretty up my home and make some of those lovely gifts :)

Tania, Annabel has some great stories on her blog as well as heaps of pretty craft work. She does it all on a budget which is even better and her blog is quite inspiring.
