Do I really need this?

As the kitchen and bathroom renovations are now to start at the end of October instead of the beginning of this month and it is too early to start packing up everything in the kitchen, I thought I would sort out a few things in the rest of the house especially the rooms in which we might be having some airconditioning units installed mainly for those 40C days which seem to arrive each summer now. The thought of having tradies traipsing through the rooms is a bit daunting so it is time to get rid of a lot of the excess 'stuff' that I haven't used for years but the problem is....what to throw out!!!

Another successful rag rug workshop

This morning we had another rag rug workshop run by our Simple Living Toowoomba group. I think this one was our fourth as they are always very popular. One of our ladies brought along some beautiful rag rugs she has made since learning the craft a few years ago and the mauve one on the right in the photo below is absolutely huge.

Toothbrush/Rag Rug Tutorial

As promised here is my tutorial on how to make a Toothbrush or Rag Rug. Now I am no expert at making these rugs so do keep that in mind but I do have some good videos to include as we go along so take advantage of these which are made by more experienced rug makers. I have done lots of searches on YouTube for instructions to help you and came across Renata Rugs so will link to the videos as we go through the relevant steps. I don't have any need of a Rag Rug as such so have made some smaller versions which can be used to put hot casserole dishes on or a vase of flowers or whatever you like. The method is the same whether it is small or large.

Rag Rug Workshop ~ What a Lovely Morning!

Our Simple Living Toowoomba group held a Rag Rug Workshop this morning and it was a really great morning. As Cyclone Marcia was making her way down south and Toowoomba was on the edge of the tracking model we weren't sure what the weather would be like today but Margy felt to go ahead with the workshop as it was too late to contact everyone who had booked in. There had been a severe weather warning issued for Toowoomba at 8pm last night and I expected a sleepless night listening to heavy rain and wild winds but, as it turned out, all was calm during the night as Marcia headed towards the coast which I imagine received more heavy rain. She is expected to have moved out to sea by tonight and good riddance I say! She has left behind a path of destruction in many areas.
