The results are in!
If you have been reading here for the last twelve months or so you may remember the post I wrote in February titled Goodbye to my old friend sugar! I had had a cholesterol test which showed that my level was much too high and, as one of my friends had been advised by her doctor to give up sugar to reduce hers and that worked really well for her, I thought I would give it a try for six months or so.

A crafty week
You may have read about my accidental visit to the Boxing Day sales recently when I ventured out to Spotlight to buy some fabric for my grandchildren while there was 40% off. I have spent some time this week making a couple of skirts for the girls and a pair of little shorts for the baby who is now pretty well walking.

A Sugar Free Muesli Bar Mix
Recently I saw an I Quit Sugar Muesli Bar Mix made by Nature's Own in the supermarket and I wondered how you could find anything healthy in a packet mix and wanted to check the ingredients but didn't have my glasses on (as usual) so bought a packet while it was on special to check it out.

Cooking without sugar
As some of my readers might remember, I had a cholesterol test a few months ago which showed that the level was much too high and the doc wanted me to start taking statins to bring it down. I very nicely refused and said that I would like to try and bring it down to an acceptable level another way and heard from a friend that her doctor told her she had a number of patients who had been able to do that by quitting sugar. My friend had also brought down her own cholesterol level dramatically after six months of giving up sugar.

Excuse me...but is this summer or autumn?
We are nearing the end of the first month of autumn and one could be mistaken for thinking that it was still summer. We have had hot and humid days with above average temperatures when normally we would be starting to think about getting out our warmer clothes at this time of the year.

The Sugar Lowering Challenge
I know that my post about cutting out sugar was very popular so I thought I would update you as to how I am getting on. There is an 8 week programme in Sarah Wilson's 'I Quit Sugar:Your Complete 8 Week Detox Programme and Cookbook' and when I first cut out sugar in my coffee I thought I would wait until my book that I ordered arrived before going fully on the programme. I was still eating fruit and really getting stuck into grapes which I normally eat like lollies when they are in season as I was under the impression that fruit was off the menu until after the 8 weeks were up.

Sugar free eating ~ an interesting topic!
Judging by the number of page views after my last post about saying goodbye to sugar, the topic of eating this way seems to be of great interest to a lot of readers. I think many of us do eat too much sugar and I must admit that I was feeling bad about the teaspoon I was adding to each cup of coffee apart from all the extra I was eating unknowingly in supermarket sauces and other condiments. I did know about the amount of sugar in pickles as I make them but was quite surprised about other foods.

Goodbye to my old friend sugar!
The results of a recent cholesterol level test showed that mine is much too high and the doctor started talking about medication to bring it down. I am not a fan of taking medication unless it is absolutely necessary but I am also not that keen on having a stroke so I told the doctor I would try and bring it down in the next six months and then, if it was still high, would look into other options. I mentioned this to an online friend who mentioned that she had brought her cholesterol level down dramatically by quitting sugar.
