Where oh where have my vegetables gone?

I returned from helping my girl with her new bub a week ago today and am still getting back into routine again with my work in the garden. Before I left it was very dry and I was hoping that the zucchinis, cucumbers and other vegetables I had planted would survive the dry days. Well....apparently it rained quite a lot during the three weeks and when I took a walk around the garden the next day after arriving home, I was greeted by a jungle instead of my nice and neat veggie patch. 

Natural Pest Control - Updated

In August last year our Simple Living Toowoomba group had a very informative workshop on 'Natural Pest Control' which was presented by Kelly who had earlier in the year run a 'Compost and No-Dig Gardening' workshop at her home in Murphy's Creek. She had handed out a number of sheets of information at the workshop which I collated and included in a couple of posts here and here. I thought I would revamp them and incorporate them into one post in case anyone would like to print them out using the Print Friendly button at the bottom of the post.

More Homemade Pest Remedies

Judging by the number of page views, the last post on natural pest control appeared to be very popular and it was nice to get some comments after writing out Kelly's notes. As I am home from work with a wog, I thought I would write out the rest of her notes in case there was some interest.



Natural Pest Control

Yesterday we had our Simple Living Toowoomba group's workshop on Natural Pest Control. First we had a discussion on 'The Principles of Organic Gardening', 'Healthy Soil' and 'Organic Pest and Disease Control'. Then Kelly showed us how easy it is to make our own sprays if they were needed in our garden after first making sure we had plants growing which attracted the 'beneficial' insects.
