I noticed on one of the blogs I follow that Jennifer from
Fiber Flux is starting up a
Learn to Crochet series today. Sorry for the late notice but there might be some readers out there who would like to follow along.
I might follow along myself as I certainly could use a few crochet tips. The above
Prayer Shawl wasn't made by me but by a young girl who allowed me to use her lovely photo. My crochet is a tad more wonky. LOL!
Anyway I just thought I would let you know in case you were interested. Now I had better get back to the housework as nobody else is going to do it :-)
Have a great week everyone.
Thanks Chel. Learning to crochet is one of my goals for this year. I will bookmark the website.
ReplyDeleteNil, I still get bit a bit confused with the different terms used in US and UK patterns. I am easily confused though.
DeleteHa! No-one else it going to do the housework. But if they did, we'd be out of a job, Chel, lol. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was fortunate my mother taught me how to crochet. She also taught me how to to macrame, at one point. However, I seem to have forgotten that particular skill. Glad the crochet lessons stuck though. I'll still check the link though. I might learn something new. :)
My mum used to crochet and knit but I don't think she ever taught me to crochet. I must have taught myself to do granny squares back in the seventies as I remember making a crochet rug at some stage. Granny squares were very popular :-)
DeleteDidn't we all learn to crochet on a granny square, lol. I remember that's what my mum first taught me to make. They were still very popular in the 80's.
Deletemmm, crochet, i know the very basics but it's always lovely to relearn them! the beginner tutorials always have lovely items at the end of it
ReplyDeletethanx for sharing
Yes Selina, it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with, i don't want to buy more yarn though as I gave away all my acrylic yarn to Cinnies and only kept the cotton yarn but don't have any that is the right ply.
DeleteChel I will bring some yarn to simple living tomorrow 😊
DeleteUgh no ... I have never been keen on the results of crochet apart from the very fine sort of stuff that none of us has time to do these days. I have a few of those made by my Aunts. I think there might be a 1970s crochet dress in one of my suitcases ... my sister made it for me and given that it was sooo much work I haven't thrown it out though I think I only ever wore it once.
ReplyDeleteA crochet dress? That is very seventies! I am sure it will come back into fashion. LOL!
DeleteCrochet is so much quicker than knitting, I enjoy both. Crochet is better when watching TV though.
ReplyDeleteDeb, you are right there. It takes me forever to knit something.
DeleteMy 13 year old daughter and I have just started to crochet a beanie each. She finished her design over the weekend but sadly it is too small so not sure whether it was the wool, the hook or the tension or a combination of all three. She did learn some new stitches though which was good. I need to get back to mine.
ReplyDeleteKathy, that's a shame. I hope your girl isn't discouraged with the beanie being too small.
DeleteChel when crochet is mentioned I remember learning to make crochet hats and sewing clothes at high school. There was nowhere to wear our beautiful creations in our small town, so my friend and I twice went to church. Not for the right reasons, but to show off our new clothes. I haven't done crochet since, but maybe will one day.
ReplyDeleteSally, well I have never heard that reason for going to church before. LOL! You must have lived in a very small town :-)
ReplyDeleteHello from Texas...My husband's gramdmother taught me to crochet years ago. Nothing better to do on those rainy days.
ReplyDeletehugs
Learning to crochet is one of the best things ever! My Nana taught me and my Mum taught me knitting. Still today I keep trying to learn new patterns. It is a joy and good for us. I would encourage anyone to learn!
