Recently one of my classmates and I ventured to the beach for 10 days and during our stay we had a mini class reunion once again. As most of us are 77 or 78 it is becoming more of an effort to make the trip especially since it is becoming so busy on the Sunshine Coast as a lot of people have moved there. However, this time it was very quiet where we stayed and I was concerned for the small businesses there who must be doing it tough. The caravan park was quite full so there must be a few grey nomads still heading north from the southern states.

We didn't see many pelicans this time for some reason. Perhaps the rain put them off. 😂
There were showers most days and, on the day of our class reunion, it just bucketed down. At least I was able to get a photo of this beautiful rainbow after one of the many showers.
We tend to park the car in the garage once we get to the coast apart from our usual trip to Moffat Beach for a cup of coffee. The rock wall still isn't finished there unfortunately.
I took quite a number of walks to the shops where I didn't get wet from the rain and came across a lovely bakery which was selling these cakes so I had to take a photo for my teenage granddaughters as they do most of the cooking. They obviously don't take after me. LOL!
The sand that was dumped at Caloundra in the last few years due to storms and cyclones is still there and it is still possible to walk across to Bribie Island. There were young people playing cricket in an area which used to be under water. I wonder what it will look like in years to come.
I hope everyone who reads this is keeping well and happy. I am at an age where classmates are passing away and we have lost five of them in the last couple of years. I am trying to keep as fit as I can motivate myself to be using the workouts on
BeMobile which is designed for people 55 years and over and they have excellent exercise physiotherapists helping older people worldwide to improve their bone density and also have cardio and balance workouts too.
Have a great week everyone.
Hello Chel, I'm glad to hear you are still visiting the Coast, hasn't it all changed. I was with S at Maroochydore a few months ago and getting around on the roads sure is different these days. I'm going to have a look into BeMobile as I need to be more active too. Take care for now, perhaps a catch up soon? Barb M
ReplyDeleteBarb, a catchup sounds good. I think our days of going to the Sunny Coast are over unfortunately. Chel
ReplyDeleteLoved that you captured a rainbow and caught up with old school friends. It's funny because you are either into school reunions or not. One of my sisters loves going every year and 2 of us have never been or not interested and my other sister lives in another state so she isn't in Brisbane. Keeping fit is something I need to focus on myself and building muscle strength [mind you I'm 20kgs overweight] but my last scans said my muscle strength was great but bone strenght needs to be improved. Are you a paid member or do you do the free workouts - does it cost a lot. I'm actually going to a physio tomorrow first time in my life for my shoulder that I had a tear in it for doing something stupid like leaning too far to get a box in the garage. It's been 3 months and it's still got good but the Dr did say it could be 6 months to a year. This getting older isn't much fun. Rhonda said that AI were stealing peoples blogs and I know for a fact they are doing the same with peoples books so she has shut it down. I referred to it so often it's a shame. Regards Kathy
ReplyDeleteKathy, I am a paid member of BeMobile and it works out cheaper than going to the gym and you can workout whenever it suits you. I started with the 8 week program to see if I liked it and then paid for a year’s subscription. Many members have improved their bone density apparently. I have only had one bone scan so am not sure if mine has approved. Chel
ReplyDeletethanks, yes bone density is so important later on in life that's for sure.
DeleteThe Queens Wharf Casino is a great place to see the city - you go up a specific lift to go to the top [free] and you can see the river, Southbank, Mt Cootha etc from there. They have a restaurant up there, we just went up for a look and then you come back down the same way. 50 cent fares for buses, trains and ferries so you can jump on and off and get around for not much $$. Kathy, Brisbane
ReplyDeletePS The Muesum of Brisbane in the city hall is free and it's small and often has great exhibits and also you can go up in the lift to the clock tower - it's not that high. PS you can also use the bathroom in the city hall building -
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. That info is very helpful. Chel
