The first day of Spring brought with it a pleasant temperature of 22C and it was so nice to be outside in the sunshine. I wandered down to the vegetable patch and the asparagus is just starting to shoot up through the soil, the dwarf peas are almost ready to eat...
...the bees are enjoying the broad bean flowers and I am looking forward to trying out some new recipes I have found using broad beans...
...the fruit trees are flowering...
...the first freesias are appearing...
...the bromeliads are looking spectacular...
...the succulents are flowering and in need of cutting back...
...a new batch of guinea pigs appeared unexpectedly and must have been fathered by Bindi who the CEO thought was a girl but turned out to be a male so he has been renamed by my granddaughters and now goes by the name of Robert. They love the Steve Irwin videos :-)
My friend, Scoby, is still very unattractive but is doing its thing.
...and my new unborn grandson, is 26 weeks tomorrow and has grown a lot since this ultrasound was done. Hopefully he will stay put until Nanna arrives just before he is due to arrive.
I have heaps of seeds to plant and haven't even started that job. We have a lot of vegetables in the garden that aren't ready to harvest yet so there isn't a lot of room for more seedlings at present. At least we will have lot of greens to put in the NutriBullet to make NutriBlasts!
Are you enjoying Spring at your place? My Northern Hemisphere readers will be heading into Autumn or Fall as you call it and probably aren't looking forward to Winter coming up in the next few months. Still, I believe your Fall is quite beautiful in some areas. Whatever the season, I hope everyone is enjoying life regardless of the weather.
Update about recipes from Pasta Making Workshop:
The sauce recipes from our Simple Living Toowoomba Pasta Making Workshop have been added to the post about the great morning we had and can be found here if you would like to make some very yummy sauces to have with your home made pasta.
Are you feeling invigorated as well. Just watching the bees buzzing around is enough to motivate. I WANNA BE AT HOME!!!!! OK Tantrum over - i should be glad to have a good job.
ReplyDeleteLynda, you can stay at home when you get as old as I am :-)
ReplyDeleteBeing home is a wonderful thing. We are heading into fall here. I am sad to see the summer go by so quickly - but it's all just starting for you!
ReplyDeleteFrom my side of the world your winter seemed very short! My summer has been very looooooongg! I can't wait for fall to get here! :) I am very exhausted from my time in the garden and canning all the fruits! Have fun planning your garden and hope you make it to your grandsons birth!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how tired you are from all that canning. We can grow vegetables year round here so we are very fortunate. No snow in this neck of the woods.
DeleteDown here we too are into spring now. I love the pictures Chel. Thanks for sharing and Happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteIt has turned cool and windy, Vicki but probably still warmer than Tassie.
DeleteSpring is lovley, the wind, not so much. ;) How's it been blowing on top of the hill in Toowoomba?
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up with your blog and thanks for visiting mine. Hope all bodes well for the impending grandson arrival? My last baby was very quick - 3 hours between first twinge to being born. My first baby took me all day. So you never know what's going to happen.
Hi Chris. I just heard on the news that our apparent temp is 5C due to the wind. Hopefully it will die down soon.
DeleteSpring is well and truly on the way here in the mountains all my fruit trees are full of flowers and busy bees. fingers Xed your new grandchild waits for you to get there.
ReplyDeleteYes the bees seem to be everywhere. They are certainly enjoying themselves :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my blog.....my friend Karin and I were so thrilled to be sitting in the talk listening to Rhonda speak (oh she is so famous) and seems weird to meet someone whom you chat to via the comments on her blog. I left the library and drove to school to pick up my kids with a big smile on my face the whole way.....it makes me happy thinking about creating a lovely lifestyle for my kids. Sure the eldest one is obsessed with computer games/internet however (and much to his dissatisfaction) he is very very limited on his use of both. Maybe 1-2 hrs per week which he tells me all his friends use it anytime they want and my response is "I am not their mother, I am your mother". Anyway he is the first one to say that our home cooking is 1000 times tastier and better for you than store bought stuff and he really appreciates it. I've just posted the photos I took yesterday at the talk so pop over and check them out. Your group sounds so lovely and great for like minded people to come together in a social situation. Have a good week. Regards Kathy

I am pleased you had such a great day yesterday, Kathy. Yes restricting screen time is difficult with young people these days as there is so much pressure on them. I am glad your eldest son likes your cooking :-)
