After the storms at the weekend the weather has been quite mild and the sunsets less spectacular but they still look stunning as the sun goes down and the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance are silhouetted. I really love the beach but wouldn't want to live here due to the humidity in summer and the fact that I would probably take it for granted if I saw it every day.
Today I met up with some of the Down to Earth forum members for lunch and we spent a few hours having a great chat.
We shared seeds and some of the clever ladies also shared ...
...cord holders...
...beeswax...
...a lovely crocheted dishcloth/washchoth and soap for Christmas...
...and another gorgeous knitted dishcloth.
We had a wonderful day and I think a good time was had by all. Afterwards I did some packing before buying fish and chips and as we were walking back to our unit I stopped and listened to the deafening sound of the rainbow lorikeets in a row of trees along the boardwalk.
You may not be able to see the birds as this photo is so small for some reason and I can't adjust it in Blogsy unfortunately but I was amazed that you can rarely see the birds in the trees considering they have such vibrant colours. This is probably due to the fact that they don't stay in one place very long and also they arrive on dusk when it is hard to see them. They have been putting on this nightly ritual for as long as I can remember and they used to fascinate the children when they were little. Hopefully my grandchildren will hear them when they visit in a few weeks time. Hundreds of them congregate in these trees and you wouldn't believe the noise they make. Great entertainment when you are sitting on the Bulcock Beach boardwalk eating fish and chips while gazing out over the ocean while the sun goes down.
So that's it for another year. Back to reality tomorrow and I think there will be lots of gardening to be done when I get home as there was quite a lot of rain last week apparently. So there will be plenty of weeds waiting for me. No complaining though as we always need the rain.
Enjoy the rest of the week everyone.

How great to meet up with like-minded souls - that type of thing makes the world go around IMHO.

ReplyDeleteYes, a great day yesterday Chel. How time flies when we all get chatting and sharing ideas.
ReplyDeleteI was in Toowoomba last week,at my brothers place, and yes there was quite a bit of rain. It was quite warm as well so perfect growing time. This week has seen us getting some rain in Hervey Bay. Much needed and much wanted, so no complaints from me. Glad you enjoyed your time away.
