Why Do I Love Australia?

As all Aussies would know (because we all take notice of when our 'long weekends' are), it is Australia Day on Monday. I know that nearly everyone loves where they were born and I am no exception. I travelled a little when I was younger but I always loved it on the return trip when the Australian coastline came into view and would feel quite teary. I did live in another state for a few years but I really love Queensland where I was born and bred. I thought I would show you why.....

Are they good enough reasons? :-)

Have a Happy Australia Day everyone!

  1. I love Australia and increasingly appreciate how lucky we are!
When I travelled overseas I couldtn get over the difference in the air we breathe! I filled my lungs with fresh air when I got home... I had never even realised before that!
So many things to be grateful for. I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. We are celebrating Australia Day and feel very patriotic!

  2. Annabel, it is so easy to take our way of life and the freedom we enjoy for granted, isn't it? I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

  6. I went to my nieces new business yesterday (charcoal chicken and fish n chips) and because they work so hatd i came over to add a bit of aussie for the weekend. I hung blue, red and white balloons in groups to the poles outside and an Australia Day poster to the door (closed for air con). Then i put some bunting with flags around the windows and a big flag on the front cabinet. I was there for the day so got to see the impact it had on customers. So rewarding. Everyone was positive and was talking about how great Australia is and how lucky we are. Im hoping the bunting stays and ive made a sign for the front window advertising the new business owners. On the bottom of it is a Map saying "proudly Australian". I was actually accused of being racists by a friend. How can i be racists saying im proudly Australian in Australia? Multiculturalism has given us so much but we shouldnt lose our identity just so we dont offend anyone.

  7. That was nice of you to do that for your niece, Lynda. No, I wouldn't think that being proud of one's country is being racist.

    1. Thanks Sandi. It certainly was a hot and humid Australia Day but not as hot here as it would have been at your place!

  11. Nanna Chel,
They are good enough reasons. We had a little stay in New Zealand when I was younger due to dad's work on the oil rigs that's the only time I've been offshore. I was born in Queensland too and while I like the other states, Queensland is home. Despite the heat it's a good place I think.

    1. Shiralee, thankfully our summers are usually milder than elsewhere in Queensland even though today has been hot and muggy and it still is inside the house. I need to go out into the cool breeze which is blowing off the storms that are around.
