It was a fine day when we left Brisbane and there were just a few clouds around as we left the city ....
Then we flew into this!
Well from then on it was a very bumpy ride and the seatbelt sign was on for much of the trip. I had taken some knitting needles on board to see if they would get through security and discovered that knitting needles are now allowed on QANTAS flights for those who are interested. However, I didn't take them out of my bag to knit as I was trying not to become nauseated from the rough trip. I can't read or knit in a car as I start to feel car sick and was beginning to feel the same way in the plane.
As I was on a QANTAS Link plane which is smaller than the normal planes that fly most days to Mt.Isa, I was just a couple of feet away from one the engines which you can see on the left in the first photo. There are no screens to watch movies on or music to listen to for distraction on some of these planes so it wasn't the most wonderful trip. However, eventually we flew out of the turbulence just before arriving at our destination and when we landed I was grateful we had had a safe trip. It was lovely to enter the terminal and see my family waiting there for Nanna who I think was looking a tad pale by then ;-)
As you can imagine there isn't a lot of time for blogging when there are three children around so I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. My girl bought a Thermomix today so there is going to be some experimenting done in the next few days. My granddaughters are very excited!

I thought of you last night Chel, the temp in Mt Isa was going to be only 2C higher than Toowoomba - what a difference. We have the fire on here this morning. Have fun with the Thermo!
ReplyDeleteIt is still cool here tonight, Barb. It warms up in the middle of the day thankfully. Such unusual weather for The Isa apparently. We hit the shops today (all two of them) to buy some warm clothes for the children especially my little grandson as he has grown out of last winter's clothes and I don't think the cold weather was expected yet.
DeleteGlad to hear you arrived safely, I'm not a great traveler either, especially on planes, but it's worth it when your grandchildren are waiting at the end of it. Hope you enjoy your stay.
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure, Karen. They love going out to the airport.
Delete35 degrees and 10 degrees is quite a temperature variation, your grandson looks nice and rugged up for the cooler weather. Our temperature was 31 degrees yesterday and it is only about three weeks to winter! I thought your photos taken from the plane were fabulous, it was nice to see Brissy from the air.
ReplyDeleteI thought it must have been cold everywhere, Sherri but it obviously isn't where you live. It feels like an Arctic blast up here.
DeleteGlad you survived the bumpy ride, it was pretty cool yesterday but the fire went on this morning, too chilli for me to be brave.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has had a thermy for about a year, it is a good idea to keep it on a chopping board, as that is the best way to lift it when moving on the bench. I will ask her to email me with the sites she uses and will pass them on to you. They are so great for all kinds of meals etc when you areca busy mum.
Thanks for the hint about the chopping board, Margaret. My girl made her first meal in the Thermy tonight and it tasted great plus there wasn't as much washing up.
DeleteMy goodness, what a change in the weather! Sounds like some great taste testing coming up with that new Thermomix!
ReplyDeleteMaria, cooking with a Thermomix is a bit of a learning curve I must say. The weather is warming up again and getting back to normal.
