A new year

Well, we are at the start of another year and I wonder what 2025 will bring but I guess it is just as well that we don't know otherwise it might seem too daunting. I find that when difficulties arise, as they will, that we are given the grace and fortitude to deal with what comes our way.

I haven't done much gardening lately as we had a heatwave or two and then lots and lots of rain so most of what was needed was weeding and that's not much fun. The Amaryllis has just started flowering and my hubby is quite proud of these and tries to grow that darker version of them which he likes.

Recently I have been turning a spare room into a craft room so I decided to go through my craft stash and see what I actually would use in the future and what I could donate to an Op Shop. I still had quite a lot of fabric from when I used to sew for my granddaughters when they were little. Once they got older it wasn't cool I guess to wear handmade clothes so I stopped making them. I never did sew anything for the boys as it wasn't quite the same. Anyway, I decided not to give away my fabric but instead, I would make a couple of Rag quilts. I am definitely not a quilter as I am straight line challenged but these quilts are very forgiving as I am sure you already know.

I had seen some really nice ones online and they looked like they were a bit more 'organised' (for want of a better word) than the ones I made before for my grandchildren in this post . It took a bit of working out but I think I have nailed it and have some kind of pattern going on there. Now I just have to sew each square from corner to corner, sew the squares together in rows and then join the rows. Sounds easy peasy 😏 Who knows....one day I might have great-grandchildren that I can give quilts to if I am still around.

I donated a lot of my craft stash to Op Shops as my fingers aren't so agile these days as I am old and grey. LOL!

I know it is not the season for oranges but I like to have one a day even though they are getting a tad dry inside so I bought a bag of them from a local fruit shop the other day and was tickled pink to see what was written on the bag. I don't think these oranges would be seen in the supermarkets but they are good quality ones and I am pleased the farmers have somewhere to sell their fruit which isn't accepted by Coles or Woolies.

I hope you all had a Happy Christmas with your families and friends and that the New Year will bring you much joy and good health.
